Author Visit: Katrina Liu
Bay Area’s very own bilingual children book author, Katrina Liu, is going to visit Little Bookworm Children Library on 8/7at 1:30pm! There will be book signing, reading and Q&A. All attendees will receive a FREE sheet of boba stickers and receive an exclusive discounted on books. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Mom’s Day Out -Art Workshop
Cost: $35/person
Max: 10 people
Dear moms of Little Bookworms: Do you like painting? Do you long for a relaxing time to catch up with your friends? If so, we have your back! We are excited to announce that local artist, Lena Meltsina, will be hosting a painting workshop at The Joy Culture Foundation. So, grab a friend, a drink, and let's paint!
During the workshop, you will be guided, step by step, in creating our painting of the day. Great for complete beginners and seasoned creatives alike. Materials, snacks, and drinks will be provided. You can find more info about Lena here:

P.S. Our founder, Lulu Roberts, and other moms were inspired by Gustav Klimt’s Mother and twin paintings recently, and worked on a Mother's Day project with Lena to celebrate the special bond between mother and child(ren). You can see their artworks are now displayed at The Little Bookworm Library this month!
Special Story Time: Super Helpers - The Beach Lifeguards
Cost: Free (Registration required!)
Max: 10 (5 years and up)
"Super Helpers" is a series of stories about wildlife rescue and environmental protection. Local author, Gloria Hsu, is a Taiwanese mom who cares deeply about our earth; she is going to share with everyone her first story about how to protect sea turtles and the beautiful ocean by reducing plastic wastes. We will make crafts with recycled utensils too!
Summer Book Fair
Cost: Free
(no registration required)
What’s the best thing to fight summer boredom? Books! Usborne carries a variety of picture books, chapter books, activities books & kits. Their representatives will be at our library on site to help you select books that are suitable for your kids' age and interests, so both parents and kids will all be ready for the summer.
(p.s. All books are in English; hopefully we can do one for Chinese in the future!)
Dragon Boat Festival 小書蟲慶端午
Cost: Free
(Please RSVP so we can prepare materials and food accordingly)
Come join us at the Little Bookworm Library to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival with the whole family! Kids can go around the booths to experience various activities about this traditional Chinese holiday. Complete all of them to enter in a draw for prizes! If you get hungry, there will be sticky rice ball (粽子) on sale to fill your bellies. Don’s miss the fun!

LITTLE BUILDER STEM WORKSHOP
Little Builder STEAM Workshop
Max: 8 families, one children (6+ yr) + one caretaker
Cost: $15/family
Calling all little builders! Our parent volunteers will lead a STEAM workshop, families can work together and build a hand-held vacuum cleaner. Participants who complete the project will also receive a “Robotic dog” set to build at home!
Board Game Party
Time: 11am-12pm & 1pm-2pm
Max: 6 kids per session, 5 years and up
Calling for little board game lovers! Little Bookworm Library is proud to collaborate with TinySprouts and bring Empower Empathy to our library.
Empower Empathy™ is the first in line of Emotional Intelligence products created by TinySprouts© (https://www.mytinysprouts.com/) developed over a period of three years and powered by decades of teaching expertise. Founded by two Bay Area Chinese moms, the game is to teach children how to identify and express their own emotions, empathize with others, resolve social conflicts, and build socialization competence.
Workshop: Earth Day Craft by Studio Lorax
Time: 2:30-4pm
Fee: $45
Max: 8 families (one kid + one caretaker)
Requirement: 5 years and older
To celebrate Earth Day, Mrs. Mandi from Studio Lorax will share stories about ocean protection, and teach children to create a wonderful whale craft with natural material.
藉由地球日,Studio Lorax的Mandi老師要跟小朋友們一起從故事中了解plastic ocean的議題以及如何保護海洋動物,最後會用自然的花材和小朋友製作出美麗的鯨魚作品。
*花材比較易碎,建議比較有耐心的小朋友或家長協助
Spring Story Time and Author Visit with Crystal Z. Lee
Special bi-lingual story time to welcome Spring! Bay Area author Crystal Z. Lee will share her stories and lead a butterfly craft with the families. Her books will also be on sale with special discounts for our library members.
Crystal Z. Lee is a novelist and children's author. She grew up between Taiwan and the Bay Area. She is the author of Kai the Dancing Butterfly, a picture book celebrating Taiwanese culture through the purple crow butterfly migration. Her other children's book, A Unicorn Named Rin, is about a unicorn and other magical beasts from the Tang dynasty. You can follow the author on Instagram @crystal.z.lee
